Well, wasn't Tuesday night under the lights eventful?
Our quarterfinal against UC will now be replayed at a later date after a power failure just after half-time. Even before that, it was a shock to find ourselves 2–0 down after conceding two early chipped goals. Despite the scoreline, I thought we played well. We controlled plenty of possession, were breaking down UC's defensive block, and it felt like it was only a matter of time before we got ourselves back into the game. Lucky or not, we now get the chance to do it all again.
Now it's all about this weekend.
We'll take Tuesday's match as a valuable learning experience and use it to sharpen ourselves for another tough challenge. Burwood are a difficult side to beat, and both of our previous meetings have seen us come from behind to win. They've also put together a very strong season so far, including impressive wins over Ferrymead Bays and Christchurch United, so we know we're in for another big test.
We'd love to see plenty of our supporters at Halswell Domain for the earlier kick-off. Then stick around afterwards and watch the All Whites take on Belgium in the clubrooms.
Up the Hawks!
NEXT GAME: v Waimak 2.45pm Sat 4 July at Kendall Park Round 11
