A big ‘Welcome Back’ to all players, coaches, managers, parents and supporters for the 2026 season.
With over 1000 members, it takes a small army to sort registrations, allocate teams and entries, gear, grounds, trainings – you name it. Thanks to Olivia, Bridget, Ollie, Paddy, Ella and the rest of the Proteus team for all your work to date.
If you have been to The Nest of late, you will have noticed the significant ground improvements on the back fields which are underway. Following the completion of that at the end of the winter, work will start on the fields in front of the clubrooms, with that (hopefully – fingers crossed) being completed in time for the start of the 2027 season. Huge thanks to the Christchurch City Council for the investment they are making which will see us have top quality playing fields for years to come however, that gain comes with some short term pain. We have lost a significant amount of lit training space. Unfortunately, this will mean all junior and youth teams will not be able to train at the Domain this season. We will be in touch with coaches as to what the alternatives are.
The Executive team are well aware of the price to play Football. As is the way presently, cost are escalating. Our one major fundraising initiative is the Grocery Grab. All we ask is that each member sells 1 book (10 tickets). In past years we have been a long way off this target. This is also an excellent opportunity for teams travelling to tournaments to fundraise as we offer incentives to teams who sell additional tickets. Please contact Olivia.
A huge thanks to our club sponsors and funders for your contribution so far. Special thanks to R+B Build who are the clubs major sponsor for 2026.
Lastly, if you have any suggestions, comments or feel you can assist in any way, please let myself or Olivia know. Good luck for an injury free, enjoyable and successful season.
